The Cherry Blossom Festival Southern CA is a FREE admission event to the public located on the streets in the Little Tokyo district of downtown Los Angeles. We had 60,000 attendees at the 2010 Festival. This festival is produced by a 100% volunteer team.

Senator Daniel Inouye Cherry Blossom Leadership Award: JAPANESE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCATION, ASIAN AMERICAN DRUG ABUSE PROGRAM, NISEI WEEK FOUNDATION and Community Treasure Award: OKINAWA ASSOCATION OF AMERICA and we honored 16 teachers from Southern CA schools for the “TEACHERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE AWARDS” - two of the teachers honored at the 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival were Debbie Curtin & Irad Orduna of Blair High School
Festival Components: Main Stage - Live entertainment of Japanese Dancing, Taiko, Kimono Fashion Show, Teachers Making a Difference Awards, Senator Daniel Inouye Leadership Awards, George Kiriyama Educational Excellence Awards and variety of main stage performances in dance, song and music. And the Best in Show Most Photogenic Dog Contest. Kids Activity – Free Cultural Crafts & Storytelling by BookPals (SAG Foundation); Hawaiian Village – Hawaiian entertainment and craft vendors. Cultural Pavilion includes: Photo Document Exhibit of WWII Internment Camps; Kimekomi Dolls Demonstration & Exhibit; GO Board Game, Yamaguchi Kenjinkai, Sashiko and Shibori Exhibits to name a few. Martial Arts Arena; Odori Street Dancing; Lane Nishikawa’s film “Only The Brave” – a story about the tragedies & sacrifices of courageous Americans of the 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team; Craft, Corporate and Commercial Vendors & Cherry Blossom Food Court; Kirin Beer & Sake Garden with Sake Tasting Events; J-Pop Stage – Featuring “Anime” performances, Cosplay Contest, Hip Hop performances by Masumi & Trueful and a Lolita Fashion Show.
